Copy of Center on Business and Poverty Index – Updated 03-02
The Center on Business and Poverty, in cooperation with students and a wonderful professor at Vanderbilt University, have invested a great deal of time and effort to create an index which ranks countries by how business and government policies influence quality of life and poverty. We will re-post a press release right next to this article that will tell you more about the index and all the fabulous people who were involved in its creation.
The link below will also take you to the same Excel spreadsheet. It will show you how the index is weighted, all of the sources we used to create the index, and the dates of the information we incorporated into the index. Our hope is that our efforts, on the part of the Center on Business and Poverty and the students, will offer a tool that businesses and governments can use to help address poverty.
Finally, when you click the link below, you will notice that the Excel spreadsheet is interactive. You can change the variables, the weighting, and anything about the model. We do this in the spirit of a social enterprise that believes in open software. We want to see others take what we have done and make it better.
